Time Changes

I really like this short essay by writer Nana Awere Damoah about the personal significance he found as a child in the highlife song "Time Changes" by Akwasi Ampofo Adjei and his Kumapim Royals Band. This song tells the story of a teacher giving a lesson to his students on the topic of life, its theme: "time changes."

Time changes - Mr. AAA  (A remake of the original song)

Time Changes  (The original song from the 1980s. Unfortunately this is only a short selection)

  1. I loved reading this, I also have fond memories of this song. It brings memories of my first trip to Ghana in 1988, this was the first time I heard the music of Mr.AAA and I loved it, especially this song, even though I don't speak twi. In 1991 I went to a concert party in Akim Oda where AAA and his Kumapim Royals were performing (theater and music), it was great. It was a shock when I heard that Ampofo Adjei had passed way, he was one of my favourite highlife artists. I'm lucky that I could get my hands on a compilation CD of Akwasi Ampofo Adjei with some of his older works and which also contains the original version of "Time changes". Thanks for this post !

  5. Time Changes by Akwasi Ampofo Adjei is one of my favourite all time song. I was very young when I heard this music and I used to go and watch Mr AAA and his Kumapim Royals at the village whenever they come there on their annual tours.

When can I get a full version of the original song? I have been searching for that for years but I can't get it anywhere. I love this song and the memories it brings.

Thanks Osibisa and Nana A Damoah for sharing this.
